The Internet of things (IoT) is the inter-networking of physical devices and items embedded with electronics, software, sensors and network connectivity and allows objects to be sensed or controlled remotely across existing network infrastructure, creating opportunities for more direct integration of the physical world into computer-based systems.
IBM Watson IOT is a cognitive system that learns from, and infuses intelligence into the physical world, and creating opportunities for more automation among systems around us. This year's AISYWC introduces an interactive workshop on IoT.
The workshop, being conducted by Dr. Jayakumar Singaram, founding member, RINANU SEMICONDUCTORS LLP and alumnus, IIT Bombay, aims to provide an overall view of this vast topic of Internet of Things, specifically IoT in Smart City via IBM WATSON IoT platform. The session is of about 3 hours providing overview of the subject, covering following topics in brief:
Introduction and Overview ( Tool chain, Workflow), Applications ( Design sample application, Code, Build and Deploy ), Persistence ( Testing with sample data simulation), Connectivity ( Wi-Fi , BLE and Zig-bee- optional , Security (optional).
As evident, the workshop will begin with introduction of tools, softwares and other platforms to be handled and will gradually build up pace by introducing more and more specific details of IBM WATSON.
The session has been arranged in keeping with the interests and experience of visiting delegates and other participants of the Congress, hence holds basic pre-requisites such as programming skills and basic experience with IDEs ideally Eclipse. All participants will be required to have access to systems with Windows environment and proper network connectivity for the workshop.
The conducting team is an experienced one in areas of Embedded Electronic devices and its plug in to IoT Service Platform. They have been working in IoT service segment for more than 2 years now. Some of the members bring 20 plus years of experience in Embedded products design and development. In Spite of the very recent introduction of IBM WATSON IoT Service into the world, the team already has knowledge of the field.
